1.25m apart, facing one another's backs, risk is somewhat reduced compared to in a regular classroom, I'd have thought, and you can reasonably well control movement on entry and exit of the exam hall. Can they not be masked up for the mocks?

It’s in between times that’s the problems - they’re gathering in groups, and no they don’t *all* wear masks.

Having read through that I'm quite glad I work in a primary school. Having said that, the school I'm a governor for is an all-through, so presumably they'd need to be testing some of their staff and not others...

So on Wednesday last week the govt told schools to close on 17th to allow for a decent break etc. Then on the very last day of term they announce that they are planning for a staggered return in January, which will no doubt require lots of teachers to work over the holidays to prep remote delivery work for the (as yet undefined) year groups that will stay at home at the start of the new year. They are utter imbeciles. bbc.co.uk |

Anyone in a position of influence fancy telling me what I have to be able to provide and to whom on January 4th? Thankfully I'm working until Christmas Eve, so at least I've got four days once the ink is dried on the diktat to get stuff organised. |

I know this is "national emergency" time, but for the love of god we were expecting a break over Christmas, not have to get a diktat the day before we close about planning a wholescale change to delivery for the first week back, combined with the logistics of establishing an as-yet-undefined testing arrangement (is it staff only, is it "close contacts" only for students or all students, is it voluntary etc etc) which will be supported by "the armed forces". Should we all be panicking that the govt is seeing something so disastrous in the data that we should all be fearing for our lives in advance of January? I thought it was bad enough that Universities were told a few weeks ago to arrange staggered starts, but to leave it today is utterly unforgiveable!!! |
