Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Good news JDA and nice to hear someone else who likes the power of jelly babies
Out of interest how many do you eat during the marathon and at what intervals. At the moment I have 2 every two miles in my MP runs

All's sounding very good for you jda. My only races planned are the London Marathon and The Big Half just beforehand. Target setting a bit too early as I've not done anything but just base training for months. I'm now weaning myself of WSW so I can get some proper weekly structure and I've been injecting some faster pieces into every other run for the last week (at this point "faster" is around 3hr MRP and not for longer than 10 minutes)

Thanks WW, I had that song in mind when i chose it (being the dad of two who used to sing it a fair bit) plus my family's initials (once our surname is added) spell SHARK so I literally am Daddy Shark.

LMH, I probably have 3JB and a chunk of home-made Kendal mint cake every 10k, but it depends on the location of water stops as I like to have a drink to wash it down. Mancs had water about every 5k so that worked well. Haven't yet planned York but I saw they had a map with all the details. Am tempted to try a caffeine gel around 35-40k.

4:02 for the MP, good enough though the legs actually felt a bit heavier than I'd thought. But 3 more days is plenty.

Just briefly played with my old and new (unused) VF. The former are noticeably more flexible, which perhaps means they aren't giving me so much benefit now. This will be their third (and probably last) marathon. It had always been my intention to save the new ones for next Mancs but if the super new sub-2 shoes come out they may be superseded! Not so bothered by the next% which seem a marginal gain at best.

I think it was riggsy was asking about your jelly babies jda - I don't eat them as they have cows hooves in:-) I tried a caffeine gel once, fortunately in training as the effect was an almost instantaneous stomach cramp - don't do it on Sunday if you haven't done it before - especially when it sounds as though you should be in for a good run.

My six miles this morning was slower than my last two runs - this tapering thing doesn't seem to be doing me much good.

Oh yes sorry it was the red icon on my phone screen that fooled me :-)

I have had the odd caffeine gel/drink in the past though don't use them much.

Not really expecting too much on Sunday TBH, I'll be checking my pulse carefully and will be quick to slow down if it looks high in the first half so my pace estimate is a bit of a guess. I'll try to say hello at the start though might not be there that early - I'll be in a dark Scotland vest and maybe bright blue cap if there's much chance of sun. Looks fairly calm, cloudy in the forecast.

It was me that asked about the jelly babies. My next marathon is 8 and 3/4 times round the lakes at Rother Valley full lap is aprox 3 miles so was planning on having something every time I go pass the drinks station.
