Running downhill to start was an interesting experience. Although the wind on the way out wasn’t much fun I’m glad we had it behind us on the way back!

There was one year the wind blew the other way and when I saw people with 2 miles to go they were absolutely broken !

Think it was 2011, but could have been 2015...don't think I did it that year

That would be a long slog home into the wind.
Just realised I had a 3 minute positive split yesterday 😳

About 40:30 for me today, paced it pretty well considering but the sharp hill near the finish and slight over-distance (by Garmin) meant I was never going to pull back enough seconds at the end. 7th out of several hundred in my age group (49) and a three min course PB though it was a long time ago I last did it.
I find running at altitude is a real struggle for the lungs. Legs aren’t really tired as you’d expect from 10k at marathon pace!

Just two weeks, a couple of years ago I had two months here and that wasn't enough either...

Well that's what I hoped but I think perhaps our legs get weaker rather than lungs stronger! Also: Too. Much. Food.
Main disappointment is that they were handing out free t-shirts for sub-40 runners - if I'd known that at the start I might have found a few more (fewer!) seconds
