Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

TFC: I'm also aiming for sub-3 at Abingdon. Looks like you've put in the miles over the last few months. Just remember that the training you do now is just to keep you loose and moving and for the psychological benefit. There's little training effect you can gain. I'll be running 12 miles on Sunday, with a few (2-3) miles at around MP, but averaging about 7:30 pace. So 1:40 would be fine for your half-marathon, just don't get caught up in the race, you don't want any fatigue or muscle damage so close to the marathon.

Good luck!

Looking at your PBs, I'd say you're right on the cusp for sub-3. Hopefully the big mileage you've done over the summer will have helped your endurance a lot. As you don't have a high mileage background, the taper is even more important for you.

Let;s hope the weather forecast holds!

Thanks Matt. Hear hear re: the weather. Anything like today would be ideal. Have a good run yourself - hopefully we'll both be at the finish before 12 then!!!

Controvelsial ,when you do the pacing do you keep a steady pace all the way round, or is it a slightly faster first half?

Right, once I get Snowdon out of the way (just under 2wks now) I am determined to train "properly" for next years FLM and break 3hrs - perhaps the only time I will do a "flat" marathon!?
