Tue Sep 22, 9.45 am ... and that's 617 densely packed pages of 'The Children's Book' FINISHED.

I have reached my projected total of four books for September. I make it sound like an ordeal to be endured but that wasn't the case. The last book was a lot 'harder' (and I am more critical of it) but - bought in 2010 - it really was about time to start again and reach the end.

Dipps read it recently and wrote on the book thread 'I enjoyed it'. I more or less did...

being alternately moved, annoyed, intrigued, amused and occasionally bored. Stop lecturing us, A.S.!

Great cover - they used the same for the paperback. It's unusually appropriate to the contents.

Ta! I will finish the Anne Tyler in the next couple of days. (Prepares to be underwhelmed.) If i get back to London in the next few days I will definitely read the final book of my 30s schoolgirl detective series (impressed).

Might have yet another bash at the bloody milkman. So much more 'difficult' than Bernadine Evaristo*.

Want to have a look at the author Fleecio was recommending.

*BE was on DID on Sunday but I missed it. She was very funny and likeable about wanting to win the Booker in the clip I heard.

October not so far away for your (advanced!) 1 to1 swimming lessons - if pool remains open. Can you book? Or is it still wait and see atm?

Will you continue with the pool anyway? (Is this the complete finish of OW 'til next year?)

I have OW booked for tonight, and I'm hoping for one next week also. After the end of Sept it will be back to the pool unless I can find some river swimmers.

I can't book yet - have to contact them in mid-Oct and will have to see what happens with restrictions today, I guess. I will definitely continue with the pool weekly as long as it is open and we are allowed.

Ok, got it. With Heron now closed for this year I wondered about your other options.
