Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

and no sweeties and crisps at the end :(

Bananas are nasty, horrible things - they are not compulsory food for runners, why does everyone seem to think they are?

Yes, I really missed the packet of crisps at the end, they were always a godsend :-(

But, what about the mobile chip shop on the finish line?

I noticed it at the beginning but was too tired to even register it at the end.

Plus all my money was back in my kit bag, in the race HQ.

Hmmm, glad I didn't show up then...the packet of crisps is a lifesaver at the end...for my train journey home!

pros -

1) getting the shirt before the race made sure you actually got the size you'd stated instead of those at the back just getting what's left
2) not looping around the housing estate at the beginning and end
3) free race photos and instant chip times

cons -

1) the bigger field meant the leisure centre was far too crowded and the café coped even less well than previously
2) the queues for registration and baggage drop were confusing and too long for the spaces they were occupying causing mayhem at the back
3) the shirt - short sleeved instead of long and, frankly, hideous - though that is of course personal taste
4) a general feeling that this is no longer the lovely, friendly club run event which always made it my favourite and is now "just another reasonably well run race"

It's the last one that makes me sad

and I now want an edit post button, having spotted a missing comma which is irritating the hell out of me!
