Re Princess Anne, didn’t she fall off a horse into a lake once? It was the greatest moment of my father’s life. He was laughing for weeks.

Yes, but it’s TV Nic. Had it been a proper reality TV show with a phone vote Keegan would have strolled it.

I'd forgotten that Keegan got back on his bike after the crash. Keith Fielding was the man who finally beat Brian Jacks.

Story that may or may not be true regarding Brian Jacks.....

He was the celebrity starter one year for the Nottingham Marathon. Fired the gun, sprinted to the head of the field until it went out of sight, then jumped in a taxi.

Yes, KK has given us some superb TV moments, crashing his bike in Superstars, "I'd love it if we beat them", his haircuts, his singing, Brut, his face when England lost 1-0 at home to Germany and KK's solution was for the lads to puff their chests out a bit more, but he is also an idiot.

Ok I'll give you the moustachioed 400m hurdler.

I also remember Prince Charles falling off ones horse in a NH race.

As for Jockey's if you didn't have one you wouldn't have a race, horses are as thick as mince, talent or no talent.

Back to Superstars....

Didn't Lynn Davies the Welsh long jumper once blow the World Championship by falling off a gymnastic beam about 10 times when he was winning?

Was it always “Sports Personality”? I have always assumed that it started out as “Sportsman” in less enlightened days and was changed in a way that eliminated any need to say “Sportsperson”. (I have no evidence for this, just a sense that “Personality” is not a factor in most years.)

Exactly, it's called Sports Personality, and personality is not a factor, Perhaps it should be called Winningmost Sports Person of the year.

I have a vague memory of Geoff Capes sprinting really well.....

Isn't there a definition of "Sport" which requires special shoes?

So Davies (S) CFRO of both counts.
