Rosehip, it was another "lumpy" bit of the SWCP. Here's what I set out to do: Here's what I did: My daughter did the half, which was essentially run over the second part of the marathon course that I didn't do, and that sounds just as lumpy as the first half. There were 95 finishers in the marathon and positions 65 onwards all took over 6 hours. Given that a Lakes In A Day lady who overtook me early on finished in 5:57, I would have been closer to 7 hours and I just couldn't bring myself to stay out that long. Beautiful path, though, that SWCP! |

Synge - looks and sounds tough. Some years ago I got taken with the idea of the Jurassic marathon series (not sure of the real name), but 3 marathons in 3 days. I thought that would stop me being too competitive & allow time for photos & enjoying it. So .. we took a holiday in Lyme Regis to try some of it out (before booking). That taught me - I never gave it another thought. Morning runs of 7-10 miles were more than enough, let alone the thought of a marathon, or even a marathon 3 days running. I now do sections just for fun. |

I'd have another go at it now I know what it involves. Part of the problem was that it didn't start until just before 1pm (something to do with the tides!!). I'll add the next one to the race database. It's usually in May, so goodness only knows when next year's will be ... |
