Fragile Do Not Bend
I'm going to be breaking a cardinal rule tomorrow and using a bit of kit for the first time in a race.

I have a new (to me) race vest after my current one decided to chafe my neck at my last race, despite me using it lots of times before without issue. I needed to buy soft bottles to go with it and, being a cheapskate, balked at paying around £15 per bottle for branded ones, so I found some on amazon that were £5 each but were going to be posted from the far east. They came more quickly than expected and arrived today, so I've got to wear the new vest now really.

I haven't got a clue what half the loops and toggles and dangly bits on this vest are for though.

For attaching chocolate bars to it maybe? Is tomorrow a SVN event? Best of luck and let us know how you get on when you get back.

Chocolate bars 😅 I would if they weren't likely to melt. I have mini malt loaves instead. I'm sure something is for attaching what my ultrarunning friend calls 'cheat sticks' but I'm not needing to get any of those just yet! I love that it has more pockets than I'm ever likely to need. 😀

Kwala I just remembered you suggested running in the mornings. I just mentioned it to Mr Lemon and he started laughing! I am not known for being a morning person, that's putting it mildly!

The alarm goes off at 6am, he springs out of bed and I spend about ten minutes trying to force my eyes open and drag myself into a vertical position. I stumble around bleary eyed, eat weetabix muttering things like "I've got no idea how I am going to get through today I am so tired" then I throw sandwiches together, stagger back upstairs, spend too long in the shower trying to wake up. I get dressed (jeans and whatever top doesn't need ironing), roughly blow dry my hair and scrape into ponytail, dab mascara on and then just plonk myself down in the passenger seat of whichever car has its engine running and Mr Lemon drops me off at my office. It's a good thing I don't have to drive to work much, it wouldn't be a good thing, not at all. And I am usually at my desk by 7.40am and I start the countdown to 4pm when I can leave!

I'm not much better in the mornings. Need to set alarm for at least 2 hours before I have to leave in the morning.

Now googling how to get nasty plastic taste out of bottles... 😝

I have some plastic re-usable bottles I want to use but can't get my head round the plastic whiff. If you find anything that works let me know!

We leave anywhere between 6.50 and more often 7.15 and I cut it fine getting up about 6.10! Soon (I hope) we will both work on the same site and I am hoping to be able to run a couple of nights a week there on one of the running tracks before coming home.

Frag, maybe put a bit of bi-carb in the bottle, shake up with water, leave for a bit then rinse might do the trick or white vinegar is good for getting rid of smells. (The vinegar smell goes away quite quickly.)

Have you decided to stick with the half now? Use it as a kit testing run. ;-)

Yes, google says bicarb. I have baking powder so that will have to do. I will decide on a second lap when I have finished the first - it's great to not have to decide until then.

I just have to make the most important decision now, which leggings to wear? 😀
