Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The WC has at least one group game where the teams that contest the 1/4 final onwards can safely play a 2nd XV, and probably another group game that’s a notch below top intensity.

The 6N’s great attraction is every game is 100% full on, even Italy these days **

**waits for some wag to say except Wales

Also by the nature of a knockout the only teams that play so many games in the WC have probably had some quite easy games along the way, it's different if you are the whipping boys in a round robin getting beaten up week after week. I agree the scheduling could perhaps be improved (staggering the gaps) but don't have a problem with the weeks off.

I remember the old 5N when the two games happened simultaneously on Saturday, you’d get the live game with Bill McLaren commentating then highlights of the ‘other’ game straight after, Nigel
Starmer-Smith at the mic.

I remember watching one match while having the ceefax score of the other overlaying it - do not recommend! It's much better how it is now with separate matches :-)

My memory is that they were slightly staggered. So one game would be in full from Twickenham, then you'd go live to get the second half of the game in Cardiff.
Weird, neither fish nor fowl.

We used to have the Scotland match on the radio while watching the other match on the tele. Unless Scotland was on the tele.

Although the radio commentary was miles better so we often turned the tv sound off. Not sure you could do that these days with the "digital lag".

But then it would be Gridiron! ;) :)
