England's fitness will now see them through.
They, England can go though the phases, empty the bench with 25 to go you feel it's job done, protect your starters let new guys have a go.

England are not really showing much attacking spark. If I see another kick behind I’ll switch off

England, reading my previous post, have gone to sleep letting a fresh/hungry Italian score.
Dan Cole though, legend yes, past it at test, yes.

A win for England, that's it though, beat Italy at home, hardly headlines news is it
What have England or any individual English player learned from today though?
Nothing, that's the answer.
A couple of replacements have looked good off the bench against a beaten opposition. Smith has come off the bench and been ordinary and a lot of tired guys have learned that they will get subbed at 70 minutes.
Sorry, but with it won maybe leave everyone on, make those guys play 80 and understand what it is to go deep inside yourself. Make the bench be well fucked off and be better to take the shirt.
Think the only guy who has grown is Lawrence. Played 80 kept going all game, deserved MOM.
Can't wait to see him and Russell next year.

Probably didn't make a difference but that Ringrose try definitely wasn't a try! I was sure his foot was in touch and BBC2 has just proved it. Luxury of home TV pictures

Do you mean the Lowe try Little Nemo? Which they are saying was a toe touching a blade of grass. Was Ringrose's in touch too? Crikey, different complexion Ireland performance if two tries were dodgy? G

I thought England looked very average against Italy there. Some good bits, obviously, but lots of mistakes and most worryingly, what looked like a lack of caring in the 3rd quarter of the game, to me. Doesn't mean they can't improve and turn it on in future, but just can't understand how they can drop their heads. The mantra is 100% to the whistle, and we've seen how much that matters nowadays. Anyway, some great stuff from Italy. If they could just tighten up the discipline and sharpness at rucks and scrums and defend the set pieces etc. Their open play is great, and their commitment, physicality and individual skill not in doubt, I think. Wales v England will be interesting.
Wales being this poor has been a bit of a surprise. They’re effectively rebuilding already, and as a team they’re about 18 months -2 years ahead (or behind depending on your pov)
England who have a lot of players who will retire in the next 12-18 months but who are still functional. Wales have a lot of players who should have been effectively retired but due to there being no one better to take the shirt from them are still playing and are past it from what we’ve seen so far.
England’s defence is still rubbish. A lot of line breaks by Italy. Their attack wasn’t amazing and is largely lineout driving maul based. Only one of the tries was from back play.

My mistake HappyG, it was the Lowe one. No real complaint, I know there is always a temptation to fudge the replays for the home team
