Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Shades: What a shame on legs hating the cold today. So far not looking good for Sunday for you.

I was dithering if I would run pre PT session in the end I thought go for it.First time this year! 3 miles done but 4 degrees and so much lighter than last time when I needed a torch.

Shades, seems Adam was definitely at least trying to win, and he’s said he’ll be back but will stay for longer. Basically everything was a massive rush before the event. Presuming all his training is on strava (I think it is), he rarely does much mileage at all, anyway.

Great news about the low HR Ian, and the Comrades update as well.

Flight was 1hr delayed, but got back fine and got to my mate’s for around 9pm so it wasn’t too bad.

Went for around a 5 miler, along a canal path, a loop of the next village, and back along the same path. Legs feel fine but I am pretty tired.

WP - My legs hate the cold every day, but today I think it was they'd got used to the milder temps in the last few days and it was a bit of a shock to them 🤣

That's good that your achilles let you do a run pre PT session.

Yes, lovely and light now in the mornings.

It's not unexpected to DNS Great Welsh, I've had to do it before because of being too cold. A few years ago they moved Great Welsh 4 weeks earlier, I assume to avoid a clash with Newport, so I know it's more of a risk for me weather wise now.

WP - yes, their other half is in February, it's popular too. They send me loads of emails about it.

Perhaps September date was as a result of the pandemic?

Ian - I'm hoping you have a comfortable race. Of course, nothing is certain when it comes to marathons, but all that training should pay off on race day.

WP - I would love it if Great Welsh was in September as good running weather for me.

Well done on your trap bar PB.

Two sessions in 3 days, might be some tired legs on Friday 😉

I have no upper body strength whatsoever. 😢

It would suit me as well as September is a good month for me.

I shall have to remember that when I moan on Friday if run is not so good 😅
12 kilos for one exercise but laying down chest press is 10k .

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
