No you don't! It will be a wrench but I haven't played them for years:

Les Paul Standard (think it's standard not custom) black
Fender Telecaster,

Ibanez Les Paul Custom copy - gold (very petty!)
Ibanez Strat copy -red
And an Ibanez (I think) bass.

Also should get rid of drum machine, 4 track recording thing and three trillion bits and pieces currently living under my bed in Dalston.

Will I be able to do it...

I do take your point Synge, although I was looking here (not ebay)

uk.rarevinyl.com

I appreciate what they sell for is not what they'd buy for...

I’ve sold a lot on eBay with no trouble. However I was thinking of it as an alternative to charity shops or even just binning stuff, so any money was a bonus rather than the main point. Some items really weren’t worth the trouble but over the years its made me a fair amount and I prefer to see stuff reused than thrown out.

Despite the horror stories, virtually no poor experiences from the process.

For clothes, Vinted is seen as a cheap place to go I think. I've listed some things on there but even for a low price (£3) things don't necessarily sell quickly. Probably a better experience as a buyer than a seller.

I used eBay for items where I definitely wanted more money - some Camper boots (which I'd bought on eBay but which were no good for me), shoes and good quality gloves.

Depop good for curated vintage selling. With nice styling on a mannequin can sell pieces at a premium there.

Vinted is a good outlet for pieces which you don't mind selling cheap.

eBay for anything more specialist or unusual, I just sold a Proviz jacket on there (had another ultra reflective jacket) and it achieved a really good price.

About This Thread

I looked at the declutterers thread but there are no links relevant to my question so here it is:
What are the best sites/methods for selling things, please? Who has had luck with what and where?

Clothes and musical instruments and equipment are my two most lucrative hopes. But possibly also books, vinyl, magazines and comics.
