Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

wow

bbc.co.uk

A plan to route hundreds of thousands of cars on a huge polluting detour ruining the air quality in 3 towns when, if you know the area or are capable of reading a map you'd realise that the A46 & A36 are less than 500 metres apart at their closest & a mile of new road with a bridge would save millions of car miles, not have cars trudging through Bath & 'get Britain building'

I wonder if increased inflammation may be related to political views tending rightward.

The left and right are equally capable of being inflamed by one thing or another.

Interesting research that it's been used to do.

The claim that it's "the UK's fastest AI supercomputer" is clearly one from the marketing people rather than the computer scientists, unless Scotland has declared independence while I wasn't looking - archer2.ac.uk

A more cynical person than me might note that Bristol's Isambard-AI will be about 10x more powerful and is due to be fully operational in a couple of months, so the timing of this press release is fortuitous :-) It'll link up with the Dawn system, too.

Hummus recipe:

Proper hummus is served with a drizzle of olive oil, rather than oil being a significant ingredient in its own right. This is what should go in it:

• 1½ cups cooked chickpeas or 1 (15-ounce) canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed*
• 3 tablespoons tahini
• 3 tablespoons lemon juice
• 1 garlic clove, mashed
• ¼ teaspoon salt, or more to taste
• Approximately 2-4 tablespoons room-temperature water or aquafaba, or more if needed
• Optional garnishes: extra virgin olive oil, sumac or paprika, finely chopped parsley or other herbs, whole chickpeas

This particular recipe from thymeandtoast.com but it’s typical of the Middle Eastern way of making it.
