The Dark Side is a wonderous place of picnics, sleep deprivation and doing the toilet outside. I rumbled up to a 6 mile race today and only knew about half a dozen folk, i go to an ultra race and get hugs from about 90% of the field. I heart ultras!

Lintie, I suspect there may be easier ways of getting a hug ;-)

D33 was my first (only to date) ultra. It wasn't Fetch though, it was that darned Born to Run book. Convinced me I could run forever :-o

I know more people who've run ultras than I do who've run marathons (or halves, or 10ks ....). Oh dear. But they are all lovely heart

Lager tops mid race Andy. My top tip. I only read the section about women ultra runners in that book spikeyboy. Womens fat stores mean we should be better ultra runners than you blokes. I love my training probably more than the races. I've seen so many stunning places that give me goosebumps and a tear to the eye a few times.

I love how this has turned into an ultra appreciation thread. :-) And I love how by knowing some great ultra folk, I still get to live vicariously, and get to see some of the amazing Scottish countryside when I'm lucky enough to be able to join them on a (non-ultra!) run (or see the photos). :-)
