Son of a Pronator Man
Anyone done the Millport 10 miles race ( scheduled for 19th May). I've contacted the organisers and they seem very laid back. Just come along, they said, you'll get a place. No pre-entry, it's all enter on the day. Clearly the race limit of 500 is notional. Now the low key/retro approach is appealing but I'm reluctant to drive from Dunfermline to Largs and back with a Largs/Millport ferry return trip is it's going to be crap. So anyone got a heads up ?

I ran Millport in 2017, good flat, fast course, even thought it was windy and the ferry was choppy. Really enjoyed it tbh, IIRC it was a fairly large field & quite a few club runners rather than a fun run.

Four minutes or thereabouts slower than last year at Chacefield, shows the difference in the tougher course imho.

Millport last year, 297 runners, 2017 was a field of 343.

Thanks A-C.. I suppose on a small island the chances of a windy day are fairly high

I’ve done a swim from Millport to Largs where it wasn’t choppy. My ex-club used to do the race as a club champs race & always had a nice time, although maybe the distance isn’t exact?

Talking of island races there are still 66 places for the excellent Hoy Half on June 16th. Rarely windy there surprisingly, at least for the race!

Actually 2017 I did it fetcheveryone.com/viewracedetails.php?id=1576214 If you were to do the right route it would be flat and mostly decent surface. A couple of wee off road bits and lots of narrow cycle paths and few sharp turns. Nice though. Actually, am I thinking about the right one - more Bathgate than Livingston?
