How did runners view the Bike Marshalls? Our Tri club volunteered quite a lot of the bike marshall positions (4 in each 6 mile sector) but the race director only gave them red Great Run jackets without BIKE MARSHALL written on them, causing some runners to shout at them ‘get off the course’ and far worse.
I did hear a story of two bike marshalls near the end standard vg ariubd and blocking half the road width, but these weren’t Tri Club. They got given radios to report any incidents but I’m not sure the radios actually worked (maybe toy ones). Anyhow any feedback on bike Marshalling?

The poor 4.45 pacer ended up throwing up so no idea what happened to her in the end.

Didn't see any bike marshals - 2 idiot cyclists who were riding on the course with a HM runner but not any marshals.

Saw a few bike marshals but to be honest they weren't in my way at any time.

I surprised the HM tail cyclist by overtaking him very early on as I had to use the facilities in Cafe Nero. Never saw him again though and yes there were a few random cyclists on the course which was a bit unsettling.

Headphones were banned last year because it wasn't all on closed roads. Was that the same this year, or are people still flouting the rules?

It was all on closed roads this year. Iirc, apart from one short section which was wide and fully segregated, everything else was on closed roads last year. I noticed that many were enthusiastically taking the opportunity to be plugged-in this year (mainly earphones, with the occasional MASSIVE HEADPHONES).

Headphones should be banned in any event.

Yawn, paul. Really. Although I understand it may have caused you personally frustrations on the day.
Maybe you could suggest to UKA that headphone wearers have to run on one side of the road so as not to obstruct others. Whatever would be the outside of the course, so they can be penalised by running every event overdistance ;-).
