I've run it a few times and only once it was cold! Usually shorts and vest weather, honestly!

But then past weather does not predict the future I guess... You can get sleet in Scotland all year round if we're honest :-).

Last year would have been better OC, there was no bad weather like that at all.

I am spending Christmas and New Year near Aviemore, and whilst I understand the weather can be wintery, does anyone know of any races or runs during this period?

Don't know of any races at that time, but it's a fantastic area for trail running.
Check the Routes database, and search on Coylumbridge, for a 15 mile route that goes all the way up Glen Einich to Loch Einich and back. A couple of small rivers to cross which could involve wet feet at that time of year, or it could be under a few feet of snow ! A very scenic route though.
Plus all the trails around Loch an Eilean and Loch Morlich, etc, or over past Ryvoan Bothy into the Abernethy Forest towards Nethybridge.
