OuchOuch
DT - Good Kenyan hill session. Yes for Malaga, looking good/ fiesta time.
Gerard - Sorry forgot to answer your points. In January 2024, I just overdid it and yes the AoA chaps are a special breed. I run on Wednesday with a group containing an ex Arc100 winner and 2 guys running the 100 this year, and a totally different concept of time and running, one hopes to finish in 20-22 hours (a 2.41 marathon guy), the other 30 hours+. I am always amazed at the DNF rate of 55-60% showing how tough it is, and the logistics! Riggsy - Good news.
I hope people stay safe and warm over the next few days. Seems to be OK in the South West but most of the UK looks pretty nasty
Entered another marathon! Newport in April, the earliest and most likely chance of a good sub3 times this year. Was going to wait a few more weeks to entre, but had a FB post for them highlighting it was likely to sell out in the next 24 hours so slightly paniced.

DT - I'll aim for around mp av, if its not too steep, next time.
Riggsy - good news on the run progress.
OO - good choice re Newport
My eldest and his gf stayed here last night, so i spent a bit if time with them this morning, and didn't run til 11am. Was going to reduce the distance due to the late start, but managed to get the planned 18m done. Wind chill was pretty gruesome.
57m for the week, so still a bit lower than normal. 13 weeks to go, so a few weeks to build into some more marathon specific training, and then around 8 wks of that with a 2 wk taper.

Good job I'm not seeing that consultant LMH 🤠Great miles TR, wish I could. OO glad you got a spot at Newport- you'll fly now hat you've got a focus.
Enjoyable parkrun today plus a few extras. Should get over 50 with tomorrow's run. I'll not be disappointed if it's on snow

Not doing London OuchOuch?
He was very supportive of my keeping running OO61 - told me to do as much as I could for as long as I could/wanted.
riggys - any idea when that will be? A busy but fortunately not stressful shift.
58m for me last week TR but this week is likely to be less looking at the weather forecast and work. Not currently feeling that I can prioritise running over earning. I guess your later start would at least have allowed it to warm up a bit.
Looking pants here for tomorrow - heavy snow overnight followed by sleet showers, heavy rain then light rain then heavy rain again and a feels like of -4C at 0800hrs. have I ever mentioned how much I dislike training through the winter? LOL.
Plan to enter jersey this evening. Can't decide whether it's worth paying an extra £8 for insurance when the entry fee is £52 and I'll have paid for flights and accommodation anyway which it won't cover.

OO61 - it's probably worth an investment in a decent pair of mileage shoes to see if that helps. Something like a Triumph or Vomero? I have ran in Vomero every run since Gosport HM in a bid to help my niggles. Bought a pair for £80ish recently too.
LMH - probably not worth the extra then , are the flights and accommodation refundable ? Was still icy in places this afternoon, the main problem here has been the easterly wind chill, I stayed by the sea to avoid the icy lanes and the wind chill surprised me, and again later when i took dog out and was very well wrapped up.

LMH.. good to hear you have sorted a marathon for 2025, best of luck with the build up. I too really struggle with this cold weather, I'm fed up with it already. Another week of it due up here.
OO.. your Calendar is already filling up, as I remember Newport is familiar to you. Not snowing up here yet but it's due!
OO61.. hope you've had a great birthday & Parkrun.
TR.. congrats on getting 18m done under the circumstances, a decent week too.
A modest 6m + 4m double today, 2nd run on the treadie as the temps dropped.

Good news on the run, Riggsy.
Nice double, Wardi.
Good to get the 18 in, TR.
LMH, I personally wouldn't pay the £8, you're in deep with the other aspects anyway. This is why I'll be glad to hopefully get Tokyo done and dusted. Huge leap of faith booking majors 10 months in advance.
Ouch, saw that re Newport. It ought to have sold out by now if their post was genuine.
Oo, suspect you will be running on snow tomorrow.
It's just started here, having sleeted since 8pm. More worried about my brother and family as they were travelling passed ours on way back to south wales at around 6pm so stopped for 2 hours for food. Of course the weather was coming from the south West and the route they selected was the much quieter m50 then A40, which is heads of valleys. They are currently 20 miles from home stuck.
Looks like I'll have a lie in tomorrow and let temps rise and any snow melt and go out lunchtime for my 20.

DT19 - that's the conclusion I'd come to. Hope your brother and his family made it home ok.
TR - flights are non refundable. I'll be going on holiday regardless. £8 for £52 seems quite steep.
Snow here this morning Wardi and rain forecast all day. Feels like -3C at 0900hrs.
Not sure how runnable it will be but I will give it a try later.

Wardi - how much snow at your end?
DT - did yr brother get home? How was the 20?
LMH - if you're going anyway, then risk the entry fee, I bet there are all sorts of disclaimers in the £8.
No snow here, heavy rain and wind. So a wet 10m here, which was 3 or 4m too far as I had a real sore/tight hammy later on. Shame as I thought this was on the mend, although Thursdays weights might be part of the issue. We'll see in next few days.

TR - Well done, good to have an 18 miler banked and decent mileage too, before you start to ramp up. Yes, pretty chilly out with the wind. Wardi - In this weather, the treadmill comes into its own. Nice 10m and yes this will be my 4th running of Newport in 5 years. Hopefully a nice tight course this year after measuring long in 2024. Hoping to build on a decent record there, 2.49, 2.51 & 2.58.
DT - Hope the snow melted and you were able to do your 20 and your brother got home safely. Newport has now sold out! LMH - Jersey sounds ace. Passing up London for Madrid this time. Sunshine seem overwhelmingly attractive at the moment and also run London several times.
17m slow run in "warm" conditions, 12c, and happily avoided the thunderous rain we've had. A 61m week which is good going for now. Nice run, running with various people I knew/ bumped inti throughout so kept it lively. Rest day tomorrow, off to the pool and gym instead.
