Gerard.. I'm usually around 2500-3000 miles in a year if I stay uninjured. Your New Year celebrations sound similar to mine, there were 12 at our house for a sit down meal with wine & bubbly. I was a bit fuzzy the next morning.

TT.. hope you have more settled health this year. Must feel good to get out for a run however short it is.

LMH.. I tend to run faster in the warmer months, I guess we're all different.

Riggys.. a worrying time for your FIL, I do hope his condition improves.

Jools.. similar run for me today, blue sky and sun, around 2 degrees.

OO61.. I can still feel my bashed knee when I kneel on it but not when I'm running. I'll give it another few weeks and might see a doctor if it is still niggling. Happy birthday for tomorrow!🎁🎊

2 pairs of gloves, beanie, 2 layers on top but stuck with the shorts. 9.5m done, surprised there was no ice after yesterday's rain.

Evening all

Thanks for the well wishes for FIL he’s doing well and his oxygen has been turned down but still at a higher rate than he has at home

Well done all that got out today has been a bit nippy. Had to scrape frost off car this morning when I finished work.

No running today but fitted in my physio exercises.

Happy Birthday OO62! Just as a cautionary point an MRI isn't infallible. I had one a few years back that showed nothing but the subsequent arthroscopy revealed the damage.

Good news riggys. I hope he continues to improve.

TR - sorry to hear that you are having similar health issues with parents.

Another cold one this morning. Gym first and hope it warms up a bit.

Two pairs of gloves for me at the minute too Wardi.

LMH thanks. My fear though is paying good money for someone who has a feel around and tell me it's my glutes πŸ˜†
It seems I can't change my thread name, so stuck with 0061 forever...

OO61 - Many happy returns old chum. Hope you have plenty of cake.

LMH - Apologies, I realised I never answered your question regarding shedding the extra timber. I plan to cut down on my sugar intake, along with less booze and upping the mileage will help. Aim is to cut at least 6kg by the marathon. I want it to be a gradual thing rather than an extreme diet. If you do decide to do Jersey then I can give you a personalised tour of the island if you like. :) It's beautiful and there are some spectacular running routes and places to walk if you enjoy that sort of thing. Let me know if you need any tips re accommodation too as I may be able to assist with that as well. Our wedding is in Tenerife, and friends and family are all joining out there for a week. We haven't planned our honeymoon yet but it will be somewhere warm. Some ideas floating around re Cambodia and Vietnam but nothing decided as yet. Wouldn't be surprised if we change our minds a few times before we decide.

Riggys - that's good news. I hope he continues to improve.

Wardi - that's very decent mileage. I was a bit more than fuzzy, still felt squiffy yesterday but back to normal today after a slightly better night's sleep.

TT - nice to hear you got out for a run.

It's a cold one here today too, woke up and it said 1c, that is a very rare event here. Back to 12-13c by Sunday but rain and wind forecast. Sunday's long run could be interesting. Wfh today so will do a runch, which I rarely do these days. It's glorious sunshine, so looking forward to that.

OO61 - if you were local I would highly recommend my physio. It's definitely difficult if you don't have someone you trust. This man is excellent too: specialistkneesurgeon.com and a triathlete (or he was when I saw him last).

Gerard - I would definitely like a personal running/walking guide though not sure how much running I would manage post marathon. :-) If I can make it happen it will be on a budget so any tips for well placed self catering accommodation that is convenient for the race and preferably would mean that I didn't need to hire a car would be good. Not sure if you can still fly from East Mids but definitely something to investigate. I need something in the diary to look forward to. A week in the warm for your wedding sounds great. Are you planning to go on your honeymoon straight after?

Gym done. It's slippery here this morning so I'm currently debating whether to try to get myself out a bit later or play safe. Need to work tomorrow.

OO61 (or should that be Dorian Gray?) - happy birthday!! I've had the same issue as LMH with an MRI scan before; it was only under keyhole they could see the problem. Hopefully it's more straightforward for you.

LMH - I wasn't too apprehensive actually. I think mindset helps as I'm not intending to return to where I was so if it had been a bust it wouldn't have mattered as much. Fingers crossed the ice clears and it warms up, so you can get out and feel more comfortable than the sub-zero runs.

Gerard - I try to get back at least once a year so I'm sure I will. Which part are you originally from? I can imagine Jersey is a pain to get back to Ireland from. Do you need to come via mainland or are there direct flights?

TR - Malaga might be a good target for you. Warm winter, plenty of time to ease into training and past your troubles, etc....

Wardi - good start to the year for you. Fingers crossed for an injury free year for you!

Front-loaded my day with another gentle 2m before some basic strength tests in the gym (working out my current limits on some basic machine lifts), and a dog walk in the frost. Will be back in the gym tomorrow to do some strength tests for free weights. So far I'm managing one rep at the kind of weights that I'd have rocked up and done 3-5 sets of 8-15 reps at. At least there is plenty of room for improvement! ;)

LMH - I can help you here. A very good friend of mine owns some property and has some beautiful self catering units. He just sent me photos and it's ideal for someone wanting peace and quiet, and in a brilliant location. I can get you a considerable discount as he is a very close friend of mine. I've asked him to keep one available in case you do decide to do it. Blue Islands do direct flights for about Β£160 from east midlands. If you would like further details my number is 07797787020. You can reach me on whatsapp if you would like more info.

TT - I am originally from the Liberties in Dublin, I grew up at the back of Guinness brewery. Yes, it's a pest to fly from here. Direct flights are not available all year round and none at Xmas which really annoys me. It can take about 6-8 hours door to door which I could get to America in the same time. Good progress on the gym work and another run!

I think we should all go to Malaga, haha. I love Spain.

Gerard: the cat is doing pretty well, spending lots of time outdoors with his one eye... And still squabbling with his sister on a regular basis!

Happy birthday OO62. I hope the sun is shining for you, even if it's a bit nippy!

Another cold, clear morning (and day) here. 6 miles steady.

About This Thread

Hi

Fetch has said us RW refugees can relocate here. I know there are existing sub3 and 3.15 threads, but the fetch threads seem to be for more infrequent posters. The RW threads are more of a daily diary.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm a M57 hanging on to sub3. I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running and find some inspiration and accountability.
