I've given up with RunBritain rankings as they favour parkruns too much. A couple of years ago I took 25 minutes off my marathon PB, but my ranking didn't change.

That's not strictly true. It just ranks your parkrun times as better than your marathon times. For someone that is better at marathon than shorter distances (I know someone that this is true for), it would favour marathons.

I've just looked it up for last 7 years and it appears twice (even though it's been run every year.) Hmmm... Does this mean they haven't completed their UKA licence paperwork properly?! :-) G

A marathon ranking / performance wouldn't be affected by your parkrun efforts westmoors, they allocate the handicaps in groups so similar events are grouped together. It doesn't so much reward big PBs as consistency across different distances though. So your PB marathon was probably in line with your 5k / parkrun performances at the time so doesn't cause a big "bump" in your score. And in any event, as the score is average of the five best scoring results, even one outlier might only have a moderate impact on your RBR scoring.

THat's not to say it's perfect as a scoring system though!!

@HG - no reason to assume it is a UKA registered event unless they say so, I suppose. Is it a small event? I've heard it can be cheaper to be independent than to be under the UKA banner.

They had the discount £2 for members of national athletic body. I thought that meant it was UKA licenced. It had cops stopping traffic. But no, I don't know if its website explicitly said UKA licensed. I'll go check. :-) G

After the event the organiser needs to upload the results to the Run Britain website. The website doesn't 'find' results for smaller races. Dunno about big ones.

I think anyone can submit the results by clicking the envelope icon in the listings.
