Wombling Plodder (Welsh Womble)
I jeffed my first marathon back in April after many occasions of sitting on the injury bench. It seems to work for my leg issues and I was delighted to get around and recover well. Unfortunately I badly sprained my ankle 2 weeks before Beachy Head and still not back to running yet (except for 2 test runs). I shall be back to jeffing in the new year

Sounds good WW...hope the ankle gets well soon. Support it with a tubigrip when you start running again as it can be weak (I've destroyed my ankles a lot in the past). Also do calf raises, but keep more ankle stability in mind when you do them. It helps a lot (and reminds me that I should be doing the same thing myself).

Thanks Garfield, I will do. I didn't realise how much damage I had done to it, but with many sprains over the years there had to be a point when it became too weak. So I am busy with my ankle exercises and trying to lose some weight. Our ankles have a lot to cope with.

I can relate to that...I sprained the same ankle twice in 6 months. It took a while to get over...then while in Paris, I sprained my good ankle...so my bad ankle became my good ankle and I spent the rest of the holiday resting in the hotel!!

Oh no Garfield - they are pesky things these ankles. I have rebooked to do Beachy Head marathon so I need to treble my exercises so that I have ankles of steel.

Good luck WW! I've not been brave enough to do Beachy...I'll stick to surfaces where my ankle won't destroy itself!

Fake parkruns: I've ran-walked my two so far, at 75/45s then 100/50s. Hadn't initially planned to, but after my 3km with a steep hill at the end warm up, I started having doubts about making it round 5 bumpy K!
In a previous post here, I celebrated passing 10 km again. Since then I did it another couple of times, one in a 12.5km race at the height of Storm Dennis (eep! :-o) but have slipped back a bit since.

I’ve been a bit slack recently, due to virusification, but will be back on it once I’m sure my lungs are up to the challenge.

I did all my long runs run/walking during marathon training up to and including an 18 miler. All to no avail of course because it was cancelled with 3 weeks to go. Still run/walking anything over 5 miles because it gives me the same pace as running continuously and doesn’t knacker me as much!
Hope you’re feeling better Glenn.
