Weel ... I am referring to a training situation. Not a race.

And, slowing down in a long distance race is not an inevitability. It depends on how you pace it. Is not the improved ability to maintain pace throughout one of the lauded benefits of run/walk?

So long since a post on here! How's it gaun, Jeffers?

Yesterday, ran-walked to my furthest run since badly pulled my Achilles in a race last May. 10.3 km in 1:16:48, on 2:10/ 0:50. Had not even intended it, but at just past 5 km could have turned right for home, or left for longer. I turned left.

And then kept adding bits on. Legs tiring a bit towards the end but could have gone on a bit. In longer (or faster) runs until now, a wee nag at the back of the calf has developed, but not yesterday. And today, apart from ankle being slightly stiff for a couple of minutes first thing, all is well :-)

I got a bit ahead of myself and attempted Marcothon, including some continuous running days. I had to give up after day 7 and needed a week off to let my knee recover. I managed a very gently 3.7 miles yesterday. It's back to jeffing-only for me for the next couple of weeks. I love it though. I thought I'd hate it, but I've discovered just being out there and moving is the most important thing.

I'm glad the recovery is going well Dvorak :-) Well done on passing the 10k mark.

That’s great Dvorak :) I ran/ walked 3.30/30 9 miles on Sunday and the pace was only a few seconds slower than that of the 8 miler I ran continuously the week before. I felt less tired and recovered quicker so all my long runs for marathon training will be jeffed from now on.

I think I have a bit of heaviness in my legs, but it was the third effort day of three. Day aff today :-)

One other thing was I deliberately kept my running pace down throughout. Sometimes it creeps up a bit as I get into it and sometimes I'll deliberately throw in some faster bits, as I know a break is coming. Yesterday, I kept myself reined in.horse

25 walk intervals at around 80m each meant that I ran roughly 8.3 of the 10.3 km.

And thank you :-) Hope your recovery goes well LS (Marcothon has never been for me) and the marathon training goes well, Jenny.
