Worrying footballer like "claim" from Portugal player leading to Fiji yellow card and Portugal 2nd try. We don't want to see that creeping in. :-) G

This world cup seems to have gone on for ever and we're still in the group stages.

I did chuckle that day 30 featured a match between two sides who hadn't yet won a match. Day 30 of the football World Cup would probably be 2 days before the final.

That said I also do fully understand why there's a longer gap between matches.

If the World Cup lasts say another 2/3 years perhaps England might be able to learn a few things like catching the ball and converting overlaps by fixing the man and timing the pass.

Just watched Fiji Portugal on catch up. Wow! Portugal were terrific. Fiji not at their best, but Portugal defended against the big Fiji carries and the fancy Fiji footwork so well. And they were patient in their build up, with phases. And then great lines and hands in their running too. A pretty complete performance, tbh. Didn't even know they played rugby! :-O :-) G

I suspect that prior to the last few weeks not many Portuguese realised they played rugby, at least to that standard!

It is quite terrifying watching the bravery, the handling/passing and running lines of Portugal compared to England. They do these skills at a much higher level, at greater pace than we do.

I guess it's because they play because they love the game. When it becomes a job and there is so much pressure you can lose that and have all spontaneity drilled out of you.
