I think Farrell is better in a tight game. So maybe more tactical. Tbh I expect most of the games to e tight except Uruguay!

Also Ford hasn't hit the 6N heights recently

Final point, we don't know what they're showing in training!

I suppose it will only be unsettling if they didn't know about it in advance... if it was always the plan, irrespective of JJ's injury, and both Ford and Farrell knew about it, then I suppose it is less likely to be unsettling.

I was listening to the Rugby Podcast this morning, in which they described the (possible at the time) decision to play Farrell-Burgess-Barritt as a career defining decision for Lancaster. I'd agree, it's either going to work and Lancaster will be praised for such a bold selection or it will be seen as a defensive rather than positive selection if it back-fires.

TMW - Agree with final point.

Will be interesting if they explain selections later.

A long hard tournament I think the players would expect some rotation. We haven't got a Dan Carter or Johnny Wilkinson an absolute shoe in at 10 so I think they will roll with it. Burgess performance in the centre is the one that has most riding on it for me.

Hmmmmm.

They say in boxing 'don't hook with a hooker, or you'll get hooked'. Not entirely convinced the best antidote to Warrenball is to play warrenball.

But, in truth, game will be settled up front. We need to scrum well, Youngs needs to hit his man at lineout time and especially we need to prevail at the breakdwn. I'm nervous. I'd probably be nervous whatever tge selection....

Career defining picks for Lancaster - spot on.

I don't think a fly half would be expecting to be rotated and not sure it is good for confidence, even if they knew beforehand.

At the 2003, 2007 and 2011 World Cup's England used at least 2 flyhalfs in the group stages.

Prior to the tournament I would have expected Farrell to at least run over Uruguay. It's definitely an usual decision but I don't think it will impact either way on the result. England to win by 12 points.
