It's an interesting squad. Starting to phase out the old guard in the build up to France?

Is Slade injured, or has EJ given up on one of his favourites?

23rd Dec - Slade got a leg injury against Leicester

"Baxter added. “We’re obviously having it assessed continually but it’s not something he’ll be able to get over in a week or two"

Just to add - yes it looks that way, although I did like this comment beneath the article.

" was really curious to see who Jones would pick at scrum half to replace Youngs, who will be 34 when the next world cup takes place and Heinz, who will be 36.

He has gone for a couple of young bucks by the names of Ben Youngs and Willi Heinz."

So suggests Earl or Ludlam at 8? No Sam Simmonds but I feel he’s a player who looks a worldy at club level but not up to it internationally.

Devoto recalled could be an option at 12

England: Furbank; May, Tuilagi, Farrell (capt), Daly; Ford, B Youngs; Marler, George, Sinckler, Itoje, Ewels, Lawes, Underhill, Curry.

Replacements: Cowan-Dickie, Genge, Stuart, Kruis, Ludlam, Heinz, Devoto, Joseph

Good to hear Mako's eye injury wasnt serious and that he was available for selection.
Not convinced by Lawes in the back row, but I'm sure Eddy knows what he is doing.

We’re going to get gubbed. The French look fearsomely dangerous in the backs, and you can bet Shaun Edwards will improve their attitude and organisation.

The back row is a proper head bangs on desk moment. Flankers were superb in Japan and should carry on in those positions, although I felt Billy V was either rumbled or a bit off his best. So Billy crocked is a chance to try another 8......Ludlam had a few decent cameos there in Japan, but Eddie is arsing about moving his 7 to 6, his 6 to 8 (where he’s never played and then plays a 5 at 6. Insane. We were consistently shit when we were doing this year to 18 months ago and I’d hoped the penny had dropped after the WC!

I think Ludlam at 6 and Curry at 8 is worth a try, as a potential long term plan? You still get both Curry and Underhill doing their thing in the loose, and a heavy carrier (OK, Ludlam's not got the heft of Billy V, but is surely quicker over 5 yards).
Think Pocock & Hooper.

Of course - I agree entirely with your view on Lawes at 6.

I'm very excited about the 6N. OH thinks France will have it. We're going to France v Ireland in March.
