I don't know if it's very clear from the picture but that's a statue of an unnamed airman facing the English Channel at the Battle of Britain Memorial. It's a lovely place, despite the obvious underlying sadness.

One of my favourite places to visit and the museum is very good too. My grandson loves it there and it really explains the history very well and is very poignant, and very informative. (they do good cakes too) .
