I could be tempted with the half, was thinking about it anyway when we were in Leamington last Sunday ![]() |

I’m signed up for the full but like the option to drop to the half as it’s 10 years since my last one and not sure I’ll get through the training. I’m following the “First” training plan. It’s 3 runs per week more quality than quantity. I used it for my previous 2 “only” 2 and it worked so sticking with it. |

You've got a nice consistent base to build on, Looby Loo. Which cross training sessions from FIRST do you do? As I recall, although it's only three runs a week it still gives you a substantial training load overall with the cycling/swimming and the expectation that you'll also do regular strength and conditioning work.

Thanks Vrap I hope so. What I like about first is that you can do the runs in any order too so can get the long one done midweek if that suits. To be honest I didn't do much of the cross training the last time. This time I will also be doing a park run so will try to do a swim or a bike session. I really didn't get out on my bike as much as I'd planned last year. It's a great motivation to know you guys are doing it. |

My plan will be to do lots of bog standard training runs that don't require any special attention to fuelling or recovery, some shorter races, and a bit of cycling. I've got a 30k race in March and will probably enter a 20 mile race too, and that'll sort me out for long runs. The likelihood of me trudging round the roads near home for three hours at a time is negligible and speedwork only ever happens if I fancy it on the day.
