What’s everyone doing about poppies? This year I’ve just put some money in the box and left the poppy. Am considering emailing to see if they’ll consider moving to a more environmentally friendly design.

I'm resisting plastering my environment with giant plastic poppies, and trying to be Zen about the huge (and very impressive) displays of poppies knitted with yarn that's basically plastic which will be fit only for landfill on November 12th.

I have a knitted poppy that I bought from Silvershadow a few years ago, I wear that but still put a contribution in the collection box.

I have a wristband which I recycle year to year, but I usually still end up with a paper poppy too.

I have a collection of poppies that are, goodness 5,6,7?-years old - they come out every year - but I still put a donation in a box or two. I might by poppy pins instead,

next year, our old poppies are starting to look a bit too tatty!

I’m pleased you still have the poppy Mrs Jigs. I make mine with cotton rather than acrylic and must admit to donating some to the local art project.

I love the art projects. I almost hate the bit of me that can't just marvel at the visual spectacle and appreciate the symbolism because of a niggle about where they'll end up.
