I am watching with interest. I know I need to make a conscious effort to reduce my plastic use. I just wish it didn't require such effort - there should be more choice.

Run free I'd be interested if you find a moisturiser solution. Free emollient on prescription comes in a plastic pump dispenser. It is necessary unless a suitable alternative, that doesn't cost a fortune, is available.

Also watching with interest and looking for any tips. I swear people at work think I’m bonkers as I take in my food in an old butter containers.

As a runner I get very cross at races when we have nice supin boxes of bottled water with a mouthful taken out and thrown away but equally the more responsible races with cups are they much better?

I tend to run half’s with camelback and under with a small bottle that I can refill but even that’s not always possible.

I wish supermarkets would give up paper bags instead.

More plastic recycling would be better too.

Plastic recycling is not a solution. The plastic apparently degrades unlike aluminium or tin. However the degraded plastic is still plastic. Additionally when recycled into a form of plastic fabric (nylon/polyester/spandex etc) it degrades when you wash it (microplastics) and eventually dumped when you're bored of it.

Finally the UK used to recycle 29% of the plastic trash it generated. But many councils were sending up to 50% of that "recycled" plastic to China, who in January stopped accepting our plastic. We also send it to Sweden to be burned.

Nat Geo have found in reality 91% of plastic is not actually recycled:

@halfpint - am gonna try to make my own. Whilst searching I found a receipe inspired by this article here (as well as by someone who was trying to make an after shaving cream)
top10homeremedies.com

Found aloe vera is a great plant for itches and helping to heal frostbite
Coconut oil - I use for oil pulling and have tried applying to skin but found it greasy.

Coconut oil can be purchased in glass jars and have an number of aloe vera plants.

Have tried them separately, now to blend. Will plan to create on Sunday :)

Ladies who menstruate: I recommend a moon cup (or similar). I've been using mine for about four years or so. It's genuinely awesome. I blogged about it last year... generated quite a buzz in fetchland :-) I know of at least one convert as a result of it.

I like the look of this recipe:

but can't seem to easily find the ingredients without plastic packaging. Harrumph.

Lured into Lush by daughter yesterday and came out with paper wrapped shampoo cakes - shame they're so flipping expensive!

Bought a reuseable cup from Greggs for £2 including the tea in it today as I couldn't find my usual travel cup when I stopped at services.

They give a little card with it - 6 (8?) refills and the next cup is free. It's really good to see the big chains getting on board with reducing plastic and waste :)
