Thanks Carps. Have got them onboard to creating an e-goody bag as at the very least will give their sponsors more exposure than in the bin! Gonna see if can reduce their waste to very little. Estimated that the event would produce @ 7-8 x 40 cubic yard skips.

Popcorn is a brilliant idea. Do you think it will work well in Asia?

If you had to purchase one of the following, which would it be if

a) the council landfills trash or

b) the council incinerates the trash for "energy recovery"

1. Biodegradable packaging
2. Bioplastic packaging
3. Compostable packaging (like a casava bag)
4. Plastic packaging that potentially could be recycled

NB UK plastic recycling is 29% of the total amount of plastic produced with an estimated 50% of that being sent abroad to be handled by a "developing" nation

Stupid question alert; what's the difference between compostable packaging and biodegradable packaging?
(I know they're not the same thing, I just don't know why).

I *think* compostable in both situations.

Carp, I *think* compostable is better, environmentally etc than biodegradable. That's what I figured out when looking at (of all things) dog poo bags.

Hey Carps nowt stupid. The term biodegradable is confusing for example Tesco's used to tout their plastic bag as biodegradable - I have a bag that have kept as a sample for over 5 years and it has now formed micro-nano plastic. This article might help: explainthatstuff.com

or for a more indepth understanding, here is Norwegian research paper:

Agree WL, however in Singapore & Sweden everything is incinerated.....so then my next question is which would have the lowest carbon emission? (am hoping someone on here might know)

Or do we think Compostable in case anything escapes into the environment (from people who litter)?

Bioplastic is plastic made from, for example, corn starch, rather than petroleum-based.
