I have sometimes arrived at my work crying with the pain . Can’t grip the steering wheel properly either.

Hi _Suze_ Do your fingers look like this? evidentlycochrane.net The number of fingers affected during an attack can vary from one to all. The white/yellowness is due to the blood vessels contracting and stopping the blood flow. This can last from a few minutes to several hours depending what caused the attack and how well you can manage it. If the attack lasts for quite a while the fingers may well turn blue due to ischaemia. Once the attack ends, the blood flow returns and the fingers become red, often accompanied by heat and tingling, possibly even pain. Other extremities including toes may be attacked. See also nhs.uk May I ask at what age you had your first symptoms? |

Hmm. Not really Flatlander. That’s what used to happen after running, usually when I got in the shower and would be ok within a few hours. It’s not the same this time. Red and sore to the touch. I’m associating it with Raynauds because they feel the same as when the colour comes back afterwards. It must be something different. |

People who get Raynaud's are more at risk of chilblains - take care not to warm fingers and toes up too quickly after they've got cold.

I can well believe they’re linked because they feel similar. On both days (my toe started last week and my finger today) I’ve been out in the cold scraping ice off the car and then gone to the gym and got v hot quickly doing HIIT. I’ll take more care to wrap up on the way there so as not to get so cold to begin with |

Fragile Do Not Bend
I’ve just realised I’ve had barely any Raynauds symptoms this winter. My fingers still get very cold but they’ve not gone white more than a couple of times and even then it’s only affects one or two fingers instead of all of them. I’ve been on HRT for just over a year so I wonder if that’s the reason why? |
