Difficult one. In theory breathable fabrics let sweat pass in to out while protecting you from rain but in in practice in heavy consistent precipitation they don’t really work

Haven’t found one yet, Pix. Don’t know if it’s cos I don’t spend enough money on them. Hope there’ll be some tips on here.

I tend to accept I’m going to get wet on rainy days. Shower to warm up after running and chuck kit straight in wash after that. Sorry. Not helpful.😜

I was semi-flippantly going to say pretty much same as Ness and I’ve done plenty of running in the wet

However if you’re doing long slow off-road runs get something decent - eVent or Gore to suit you but not ultra lightweight; something with some presence and buy similar trousers, even if you don’t wear them too often

Yes, I accept I'm going to get wet. I do think it's important to be warm though and I'm a big fan of windproof gear. I do, however, have a sleeveless jacket / gilet? that I got in a sale. Still no help :-/

If you are likely to be using it for races - trail ultras / some fell runs etc, then it is worth getting one with taped seams as this is usually a requirement for the kit check.

No recommendations on a specific one though, just wanted to make that point.

I shall be watching this thread with interest.😀
I got soaked through this morning and have been looking at a few options this afternoon.
Inov8, OMM and the pricy ON brand seem to offer some good waterproof solutions. Ranging from £100 upto £192..😀

In heavy rain you either get wet from the inside out or from the outside in, I don't really think there's a way round that.

I’m currently slow very slow and walk run so getting out will mean wet (I appreciate skin is waterproof) and cold.

Was looking at the possibility of run to gym then shower there then walk last mile to work hence the question

Shower at gym works whereas work is less good plus shower etc at gym easier more spacious etc

I have the Haglofs Gram Comp jacket. It's ridiculously light, fully waterproof and squishes up into a very small ball for carrying.

tgstore.co.uk

A bit pricey but you might be able to find it on sale if you look around.
