Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I think all Pogacar was thinking about was the win which explains his decision (and that makes sense for a rider of his calibre) but second would have been a good result.

I get they were both going for the win, and trying to drop VDP on the hills was his best tactic. But once he didn’t drop him an ever shorter head to head sprint was never going to favour him, he needed to go and at least secure second. Shame really after such a brilliant race.

I sure he sees that in hindsight but in the moment he was thinking about the win and TBH probably never thought the others would catch. Asgreen beating MVDP last year as his legs were cooked would have been on Pogacar's mind I'm sure.

I actually think Pogacar's best chance would have been to make it a long one if MVDP was feeling it a bit.

The power put down from pretty much a standstill by MVDP today though says he had no chance at all today in the sprint

This is last year's sprint which pretty much explains why Pogacar did what he did I think (obviously miscalculated that the others would catch though).

Yeah, MVDP was watching the others all the time to judge when to go but Podgacar wasn’t as attentive. Must be kicking himself now as a podium on the palmares is worth having. These guys are incredible though, they can be up there in so many races

Kopecky looks like she'll be winning a few races over the next few years.
