Don’t think he does long term. He’s very much in the now.
Plus he’s old and ill. He might be thinking that he’s not got long to go.

Does America need Europe as a strategic ally anymore though? Are "we" just a drain on their resources that they can happily live without supporting? Do we need them more than they need us?

The next four years may give us the answer to that question.
Depends what Putin decides to do. If Russia wasn’t a threat then I’d say no.
I don’t think that even Putin is stupid enough to attack a NATO member country. His military has been unable to beat the Ukrainian army so he’s going to get a real shoeing if he comes up against the combined NATO forces even without the support of the Americans.

^ yes and indeed no. Depends on who is theyre enemy.
They like to have handful reach regardless of who they're demonising this week. So yes I guess.
See also that the US wants control of Greenland currently an European dependent, the also more than ten bases in Germany another ten here plus the shared use of Cyprus, 4 in Spain, 8 in Italy plus a fair few other countries so I'd actually I'm shifting to a solid yes, despite Trump acting like he has an all saying eye.
Imagine the most powerful nation suddenly having a huge blind spot across Europe, going from global to Atlantic and Pacific only

Kemi Badenoch says ‘western civilisation will be lost’ if Tory party fails
Fuck off.
She doesn’t half talk some shit. Bet the Tories are glad she’s in charge. I know Labour must be.

Massive ego. And some pretty unpalatable views.

Yeah she’s a nasty piece of work. Labour’s strongest ally at the moment.

BTW I heard a podcast where someone was talking about the book they’d written about Starmer. Sounded like it might be useful reading for those who still suffer under the misapprehension that he stands for anything.
