Relax, take a chill pill and enjoy the show. Other than the fact it’s the US, therefore the biggest shark in the ocean, I think that’s the biggest takeaway - how to learn lessons and / or prevent outright fascism. If all we need to do in the UK is watch the show (and use it as evidence) I’d be happy. I’m not entirely convinced I share your optimism especially since I guess we were saying the same 8 years ago. Time will tell. |

Trump is in his second term, wasn't that supposed to be what happened in his first term? It's basically what the Democrats thought happened which why Biden thought his record would get him re-elected.

It’s well known that all that is needed to defeat evil is for good people to relax, sit back and enjoy the show.

“They’re laying the groundwork for this mass deportation in a way that we haven’t seen before, including on an explicit directive for the military to start creating detention camps”. A quote of a quote I realise. The thing to remember is Trump deported less people than Obama did and only a few more than Biden did. STOP PRESS: in fact Biden just broke Trump's record too: bbc.co.uk We got the concentration camps threatened last time, and I do not underplay the "kids in cages" and muslim travel ban, both horrible. But Obama and Biden are not much better on this score, just they removed some of the hateful rhetoric and sharpest edges of what is still an unpleasant policy. |

The shit show is unlikely to be shown by the RW media to the people that vote. Much like the Brexit supporting media in the UK, they won't be quick to share the failures of Trump. It relies on an inquisitive public seeking out the facts, or at least some critical thinking. The US Presidents are elected by only a handful of swing states, and a huge number of Americans really don't care about much beyond their local towns. Unless they move away from watching Fox News I doubt there will be a huge issue for Trump. |

Well to be fair he did in the end. But a lot of people had to suffer awfully between times.

Humouring Trump is like humouring a badger that's just found its way into your house and is proceeding to destroy the furniture and shit everywhere. Probably best not to let it in in the first place.
