A return to honour in the Tory party is desperately needed, Johnsons cronys have hijacked it to their own grotesque ends.
But he'll take it as mandate to do what he wants.

Worst result ever for a sitting PM. He's dead but it will take weeks if not months. I don't think it will take a year, Johnson will be gone or will have called a snap election before then. But terrific result. It would have been more fun if he'd gone, but I think it's worse for the Tories as he attempts to stagger on.

Remove the “payroll” vote - and look at the free vote from backbenchers. Almost 75% of all Tory MPs not dependent on his patronage voted against him. This is the end for Boris Johnson. The only question is how long the agony is prolonged.

The death throes are going to be fun. I hope they have a thoroughly miserable time of it and get absolutely slaughtered in the by-elections. Just about the only good thing about having Johnson as PM is the amount of obvious derision he attracts everywhere he goes now.
