It has now gone to the house of Lords and if you want to provide a voice for the NFU, here is their petition: nfuonline.com

Do these food standards variations only apply to imported foods? And will they be labelled as such?

You all know what NFU stands for, right? I'll give you a hint. The N is No and the U is Use. |

Given the location of most of the mahussive "Vote Leave" signs on the farmland of Lincolnshire four years ago, why should I give a shiny shit about what the NFU wants? With notable exceptions on this thread who are volubly pro-remain, if you fill your bed with horseshit, you can bloody well sleep in it. If I don't want to buy chlorine-washed chicken, I don't have to buy chlorine washed chicken. If you didn't listen to what we said about chlorine washed chicken, voted for it, and then complain that it's happening, well, really, I'll be tuning my tiny violin. |

I'll need to buy from the butcher, then? The good meat will cost a bit more, so the plebs can't afford it? They don't give a shit anyway, look at the queues outside McDonalds and KFC.

Don't think it matters run free, we can choose a chicken that does mention the country of origin. I suspect UK chicken will want to advertise the fact that they aren't US ones.

Yeah hopefully it'll be legal to label chicken as free.

From what I understand - so please correct me if am wrong. This is not just about chicken, it also about all food products + the common household products where there are over 1300 chemicals banned in the EU and the US has banned 11. How do you feel about cheaper products from China. Some on here already think China is vile for eating wild animals. Imagine part of your chicken is snake (snake tastes like chicken) or some other type of animal that tastes like pork. You wouldn't know when its all part of a microwave ready meal or a pub meal. Just like horse meat.... be interesting how the govt will compromise on the testing with lower grade food products + shampoos + soaps + toothpaste etc. In turn this affects our waterways and what we drink. I learned that water in London could have passed through at least 7 people before it comes to your tap. There are so many drugs / chemicals that cannot be filtered out. In order for UK farming to remain competitive, most will need to compromise their higher standards + environment, that is if they want to compete to supply food establishments like MacDs, KFCs, and supermarkets. Doubt UK farms will get enough support from locals here when the current economic climate is suggesting less jobs and such. This govt will be scrambling to "find deals" at the expense of the people and the environment. Perhaps the NFU are now realising it made a mistake.... |
