Why do people ask each other when transferring calls 'what is your extension?' when there is a perfectly good list of numbers on each person's desk or phone?

Jono.
The marketing & PR manager - sits on the desk next to me - spends most of the day on Facebook and Twitter - hardly moves from desk and moans it's cold when the AC's on.
Approaches events in a combative mood

One of our programme managers who's been on several personal development/assertiveness/personal branding courses & workshops. She has a very disengenous manner, sits in meetings with a faux understanding face and pretty much wants her programme to be top of everyone's agenda. Her favourite phrase is 'partnership working' which is bandied about with regard to everything from things that can be done on a partnership basis to stuff that is actually her responsibility that she wants someone else to do. No one has as tough a role as she does, and sends the most demanding, stroppy emails. My heart sinks whenever I see her name in my in-box.

We have a p/t contractor who gets into the office before anyone else in his team. He likes a good chat, before the rest of his team arrive he will do nothing but chat. If none of his particular buddies are around he'll try & chat to me. I'm not great in the mornings and his entire conversation tends to be a moan so I have to walk away.
