Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Is the dam museum open again? It had closed following Vic Hallam’s death when we were there- if it has reopened that would be another reason to revisit the area this summer

Apologies. Yes that's right. I'd heard it was reopening this summer but that was earlier this year. Just checked and found out it's still closed.

Another vote for Scarthin Books and Black Rock(s?) in Cromford. Loved both.

I’ve not been in Scarthin for years (I’ve lived up here in Yorkshire for 15 years) but had two friends who lived in Cromford in the past. I spent some time there including in the Boat plus fly fishing on the Derwent

Just catching up, Scarthin Books is a must and the fish and chip shop just round the corner from there is worth a visit as are Black Rocks and the Stone Centre

I did a little four mile walk round Long Dale And Gratton Dale area recently with my nephew and Stef. I said to them that knoll with the trees on is Minninglow. One of my guide books has a very similar walk inc Roystone Grange - smashing area

Is the cheese shop / creamery still open in Hartington? Ideal to pair with a walk down into Wolfscote Dale

Loads of ideas. Watch out for the blog ;)
Books, caves, hills, cycle rides, stately homes, walks, cafes, fish n chips. Thanks all. It's a stone's throw from home, but I can't wait to explore. Thx Fetchies :)
