I ordered a pair of sports glasses off tintenet which took my varifocal prescription and are a big improvement on my old ones which only dealt with my longer sight. means I can now read my garmin as well which was always an issue with the old glasses. I think they were called sports eye or something. Took a few weeks and come with 5 interchangeable lenses for about £180. varifocals bit works but not as well as my normal glasses. |

I just treated myself to photochromic bifocals - my distance sight is fine, but reading maps is getting very difficult. Stops faffing with reading glasses and sunglasses. They take a bit of getting used to, but am liking them so far. merlincycles.com |

Oh, that's another think I would always have - photochromic lenses! I do have a "clear" pair for wearing in formal photographs (i.e. Weddings!) so I don't forever look like a panda in someone else's albums, but for normal use I only ever wear the one pair. I also don't feel bad about replacing them fairly frequently now having found cheap(er) on-line sources!

I hated photochromic lenses, they just don’t change quick enough for me and I can fall over thin air at the best of times!

You say that Greppers, but my mate who's a kidneyologist at Addenbrooke's reckons that the healthiest people are kidney donors. (I think because there's less to go wrong, and they wouldn't have let you donate one if the other wasn't in pretty good shape.) OTOH, he did also once tell me that it's a good day when no-one under his care dies. |

Was it here we had the conversation about where donated kidneys go, and it transpired it wasn’t where I expected? Can’t remember the details. Good story though Cerra. |

3M and jelly, the only problem I have with photochromic lenses is that they are rubbish for driving as the windscreen filters out the UV that they react to!

Mine work quite happily behind glass.

Interesting GlennR, I must research if there are different reactive materials available. Mine are fine with plain glass, it’s just in the car that they go clear.
