Thanks WA. Sounds positive. Holme Valley also on the radar, but ideally would prefer a bit nearer Manc for availability for work and easier access to The Lakes (where we'd go if we won the lottery!)

the other thing is Flanker - the commute into Manchester - leave Manchester, I try to travel in early - mid afternoon or after 19.00hrs ish
I am not convinced that the upgrades to the M60 will work - and most places up here are within an easy drive to the Lakes.

Jono - the plan is to be near train lines for the commute into Manchester, and far enough to to get a seat in the morning.
(or hopefully get a job that is home-based)

good idea Flanker - despite me proving that I don't need to be in the office most of the time the bastards still insist on making me going in.
