The run segments have been very broken for a long time - I’ve occasionally looked at the top 10 for a random segment and found most of the top times highly improbable. They’re usually the result of biking (or driving a car), or a GPS error. I know there was a lot of hype around the segments when the site first started, but it amuses me to think that anyone would take them that seriously these days.

The same goes for the challenges - most months, the leader on the km run challenge has logged such high mileage within just a few days, I can easily believe it’s multiple people sharing the same watch/account.

If someone can make up a whole life living in a place that doesn’t exist then what’s the odd Stravaed bit of make believe? I ran a walk section up the cobbled Main Street in Haworth last year and on checking saw some times that had to have been done on bike or maybe in a car

I just don't get it. Where's the pride in any kind of fake achievement? I guess if you're a genuine narcissist, a la Trump etc, then they say that you actually believe the shite you spout.

I'm going to rampage through Old Croc's flowerbeds without moving from my sofa. Might cycle all the way there too, it'll get me some Conquercise lawn badges.

I’m sure that, if you know what you’re doing, you could fake a data file that would make you appear to be very fast snd upload it without leaving your bedroom, and while eating pizza and drinking coke.

I asked Morag Miller if she could put my watch on at intervals the other week because I was knackered, she just laughed 🤪

Cheating exposed by people looking at GPS files has been done loads of times, including some quite ‘high profile’ cases as well, which often gets the letsrun crowd buzzing. Especially when the ‘boots on the ground’, who are there to check whether progress is real or not, include Laz.

About This Thread

Heard this on bbc but can only find newspaper reports - people paying "mules" to run with their app, phone or watch to log a time they couldn't do in a race or even training run.

I trust this has never happened on Fetch. Is it another advantage we can claim over the Orange Place? No mules! :-) G
