No video so it didn’t go viral, but a nasty incident from a few years ago.

I remember that. Idiot man. If you can't turn around (in reasonable space) when towing a trailer, you ought not to be driving with one.

Incidentally, that photo from the article has me in it, and I've only just noticed!

I have also just got back from my run. With headphones (for some of it). Probably a good thing I'm not playing you on Who Squares Wins!

Resurrecting this thread as it seems to be pertinent to something in my club this month.

Have UKA / EA doubled down on the enforcement of headphone bans in races with new guidance? I can't see any, but our local league has drawn attention to two changes this year and citing EA / UKA regulation change as the cause of this. The first is as mentioned above, a reduction in the tolerance levels for headphones in races (which i think we all experience; race instructions say no headphones, marshals or race organisers don't appear to take any action in many cases).

The second is a requirement that race organisers hold medical information for all runners, and that first aid teams have access to said information. I know most online race entry forms ask for disclosure, but lots of local / club races don't always have this and that's the issue for our League - it's a "turn up on the day, as your club is already entered" type of League, so they don't ask for anyone's details. And we don't run with a bib or anything similar either (to keep costs low etc). It's very much like parkrun in that sense.

I've no issue with sharing my medical details (which are none!), but was just curious if anyone who was interested in the rules / regs knew of these updates / revisions?

Quite possibly relating to licence conditions there have been changes, I think that's UKA with a view on World Athletics. Possibly rule TR55 looks like it has been changed in the new document
uka.org.uk

Shows a sort of track changes line down the side, but no idea what it said before.

Other thought is that risk assessment conditions have been tightened from an accident.

The licence assessors are limited in number so will tend to apply the same rules on races they feel appropriate. Perhaps a race had a problem and they met and discussed and now put further conditions on all future similar races.

Different rules but I'm not aware FRA requests medical details (as of yet).

In fact here's the form. Emergency contact and disclaimer but no medical details.
