Having said that - it is genuinely a pastime of mine to purposely split infinitives - the one in the previous post was a typo. The end of the post should have read: "...the mental health of the many participants who correctly view them as vitally important".

Ouch! Is that another split infinitive I see before me? Its egregiousness before my eyes?
I was once a Latin scholar (looooong time ago) so they grate with me though perhaps not as much as the wrongful use of "whom".

If you split an infinitive, surely you'll just end up with two infinitives? Maths brain here, not language - and language was so appallingly taught at my high school that I still have to think about nouns, adjectives, verbs.
What did I get for English Language GCSE? A*. Says a lot...

the word dative comes to mind, but i haven't done latin since i was 10. Bellum bellum bellum, belli bello bello, bella bella bella, bellorum bellis bellis i seem to remember.
