Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I had a "weed wand" LD, if that's what you mean by a flame thrower. It burned away the tops of the weeds between the paving stones, but didn't seem to kill the roots, as the weeds grew back soon afterwards. Bob Flowerdew recommends "drowning" weeds - put them in a bucket, cover with water, leave for several weeks. They go through a phase of smelling awful, of course; also the couch-grass seemed to be very good at simply growing out through the surface of the water.

Yes (sorry this should be on the Gardening thread really) Columba the couch grass here simply seems to float across the surface of our pond so the bucket method probably wouldn't work.

Made banana bread, and just taken it out of the oven. Ds2 has a friend over, he's lovely but very loud.

I've enjoyed some peace and quiet this afternoon.

My suitcase is packed and I think that everything's organised, apart from changing my handbag.

Finally sat down after a long day, it was slightly interesting, I may just blog about it.

I have replaced the batteries in the TV remote.

The old ones were flat, so it wasn't working.
