I stopped a few times: 1) to chat to an old man on a bench about the goldfish (or lack of them) in the pond, 2) to chat briefly with an old running club friend, 3) to look round the council nursery to see if I needed any bargain plants, 4) to ask a workmen why they were digging up a section of road.
