Half a bike ride done. I got a flat tyre - at least I wasn't too far from home before I could ride the bike no more.

I queued for 3 hours - yes, 3 hours - to pick up the duck for Christmas dinner. It's a tiny butchers that at the moment can only have one customer in it at a time. According to the staff the average queueing time yesterday was 4 hours. Halfway through my wait OH came by with a warmer coat, a hat, gloves, and a travel mug of tea. It was bitterly cold and I almost gave up and walked home. I got chatting with the two customers ahead of me in the queue and we agreed that the shop should only allow pre-ordered collections on Christmas Eve.
Waiting for one more delivery to come and then I have to portion out all the biscuits and sweets that I've made, make up 5 little hampers, and go delivering them. We have to do this in a particular order as we need to collect gifts from two houses to deliver to another.
Who said this Christmas would be less stressful?

The butchers said they opened at 9:30 but I think they must have decided after yesterday's queue to open earlier - goodness knows what the wait would have been like otherwise. Those who had paid in full when ordering got to go straight in, everyone else had to wait. I'd only paid a deposit. OH tried to call them and pay the balance over the phone but they weren't answering (unsurprisingly - they were rushed off their feet when I got finally got in). Needless to say I won't be making that mistake in future years! Now I just have to make sure I cook it carefully tomorrow so that it was worth the wait.
