Great! My Mum's Mum passed on the recipe: no pastry; egg custard - in a - bowl - cured all that ails thee!
Grandma's other speciality was chocolate mould - 'cos mousse was far too prissy a word for a West Bowling lass!

I usually do mine in pastry - but in a big dish the pastry to custard ratio is better
Nana used to give me egg custard for breakfast when she didn't have bacon
(slight tangent, breakfast on Nana and Unc's farm was usually bacon, fried leftover mashed potatoes and a fried egg - eaten after the first chores of the day and followed not too long after by 11sies of fruitcake and a chunk of cheese. no bloody wonder I struggle with my weight )
