I always used to use 50/50 and the wholemeal setting and it was usually ok. 100% wholemeal is a bit heavy
This lockdown thing is just like being a SAHM when the kids were tiny: you spend ages cooking healthy food and ekeing our stuff so you don’t have to face the supermarket, you fret about your kids’ fruit and vegetable intake, and your kids can’t communicate with you

I’m doing something I’ve always wanted to do but have never had the opportunity- working from home in the garden.
One of our neighbours has a cat with a VERY loud voice.

I am officially 'not good' at baking bread. I left it longer for the first rise as I didn't think it had risen much. WHen I knocked it back I was even less convinced it had risen. It's been on it's second rise for ages and again I don't think it's rising. I think my kitchen might not be warm enough. Do I just leave it for longer? I've done what I can to make the kitchen warmer.

In a chair, cup of ta.
I'm sure that in the old days, you just used ordinary white flour to make bread, none of these fancy-pants different flours you can get now. Perhaps you could start off a sourdough culture HP, then you won't have to worry about having any yeast.

I think I'll have a go at this bread making lark, might as well, I'm pretty rubbish at baking, I can knock up cakes but they can be a bit hit and miss.....I'll report back, maybe the weekend.

It’s as much temperature as time hp. Also, how old is your yeast? That might have some effect.
Picked up ds1 from work, it was a treat going out in the car even though it’s only a 5 mile round trip

I don't eat bread that often -.maybe a slice on a Sunday so it's something I can be without if needed.
